The Jersey Shore Wave, the newest franchise in the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC), will play its inaugural season at the historic Hinchliffe Stadium.
City officials welcomed the team on Tuesday, celebrating the arrival of professional women’s tackle football in Paterson.
“In keeping with our legacy of breaking barriers here at Hinchliffe Stadium, we are proud to welcome Paterson’s newest home team, the Jersey Shore Wave,” said Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh.
“This is a women’s professional tackle football team. Professional female athletes serve as role models for other women and girls,” said team owner and WNFC board member Dawn Sherman.
The team will play its first home game on April 5.
